# Optimizely Campaign integration

> Connect Optimizely Campaign to sync consent, manage recipient lists, and use lists and target groups in segments and Flows.

The Optimizely Campaign integration links your WhatsApp contacts in Chatarmin with Optimizely Campaign recipient lists. You can sync WhatsApp consent, update recipient attributes from Flows, subscribe or unsubscribe contacts on lists, and build audiences from Optimizely lists and target groups.

## Connect Optimizely Campaign

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create Campaign API credentials">
    In Optimizely Campaign, create a **webservice (Campaign API) user** with access to the markets you use. This is not the same login you use for the Campaign UI.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect in Chatarmin">
    In Chatarmin, open [**Integrations → Optimizely → Connect**](https://chatarmin.com/dashboard/optimizely/connect). Enter the API username and password, then choose **Connect & verify API**.

    Chatarmin runs a health check for each configured market. If a market fails, review the error details on the page and confirm the API user has access to that market.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure consent sync">
    After you connect, enable **Sync Chatarmin consent to list field** if you want WhatsApp opt-in status written to an Optimizely recipient attribute. The default field name is `whatsapp`. Save your settings on the same page.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  The Optimizely integration is not available on the Starter plan. Upgrade your workspace if you do not see Optimizely under Integrations.
</Note>

You can **Re-run API check**, update consent sync, or **Disconnect** from the connected integration page.

## Contact sync

When a Chatarmin contact has an email address, Chatarmin can create or update the matching Optimizely Campaign recipient on your default market list. Chatarmin can also fill missing email or phone fields on the contact when Optimizely already has that data.

Outbound sync requires a connected integration and an email address on the contact.

## Use Optimizely in Flows

### Subscribe or unsubscribe a list

Add the **Sub-/Unsubscribe List** action under **Optimizely** in the Flow editor. Choose subscribe or unsubscribe, pick a recipient list, and decide whether subscribing should use double opt-in. Optionally set recipient attributes when the contact is subscribed.

### Update Optimizely properties

Add **Update Optimizely Properties** to write attributes on the contact’s default market list. Choose which fields to set and whether existing values should be overwritten.

### Branch with If/Else

In an **If/Else** split, choose **Optimizely** and branch on:

* **Properties** — compare a recipient attribute
* **Lists** — whether the contact is on a recipient list
* **Target groups** — whether the contact matches a target group

## Segmentation

In **Audience → Segments**, add an **Optimizely** filter when Optimizely is connected:

* **Recipient list** — contacts on a selected list (with optional inverted match)
* **Target group** — contacts in a selected target group (with optional inverted match)

Use these segments for campaigns or as entry filters in Flows.

## Troubleshooting

* **Connection fails with invalid credentials** — Campaign often returns HTTP 404 instead of 401 for wrong API users. Confirm you use the webservice user, not the UI login.
* **A market shows Failed in the API check** — Open the detailed error for that market and verify API permissions and market access for your user.
* **List or attribute pickers are empty** — Re-run the API check and confirm Optimizely is still connected.
